The Michaelmas Term of Lower 6 is a good time to look ahead to the rest of the 6th form and plan out your extra curricular, do some workplace fact finding and crack on with your EPQ if you are doing one. There are lots of ways you can start to identify what sort of careers might interest you. Listening to podcasts, head online and find career articles that interest you, or watching Ted Talks, are all good places to start. In only 2 more terms school will begin to discuss plans post school and this can be a daunting prospect if the first time you are thinking about it is in the Summer Term of Lower 6. Career planning done well, means a chosen career that brings together your soft skills as well as your academics. Time spent now, exploring some career options and planning some tailored work experience will mean that when faced with decisions later on, you will have considered carefully what options you have and what you would like to do. When it then comes to applying to university you will have some good content relevant to your chosen course and you will be able to illustrate your interest in your chosen subject, what research you have conducted, and why you want to pursue it.
